The Hoffman Family Undergraduate Center for Career Development celebrates our diverse community of students at Babson College. Your perspectives and contributions as an International Student are valuable.

While international students face unique challenges in seeking U.S. employment after graduation, they also have experience and skills that are valued in the U.S. job market. Looking for a job as an international student involves being aware of different employment laws in the different countries where you may wish to work. Many international students have the goal of remaining in the United States after they graduate and begin a career. When applying for jobs in the U.S., Babson students should meet both with representatives from the Glavin Office of International Education (Glavin) to go over visa and work status issues, and with our UGCCD career advisors.

Follow these tips for success in your U.S. job search:

  • Begin your internship/job search early and be prepared to devote a lot of time to it
  • While at the Babson, talk to your advisor at International Student & Scholar Services ISSS to understand your options and to keep updated on regulations and timelines
  • Do your research and know the process and timelines of securing Curriculum Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT) and/or H-1B Visa
  • Read over and familiarize yourself with the International Student Job Search Manual
  • Review Career Development Resources for International Students
  • Attend UGCCD International Student career workshops, alumni panels and other events listed in Handshake
  • Understand the job market in your field of study
